We had a fantastic night last Thrusday night (May 1st) with some of Torry Academy’s female students and their female loved ones. Mums, Grannies and big sisters came along with their teenagers, and their friends, to Time for Two where they had a night of pampering and having fun with each other and with us. The event was advertised in Torry Academy and gorgeous golden tickets (thanks Andrew!) were given out to all the girls who come along to the Relationship Revolution activities which are going on in the school and were also handed out to girls in the school canteen. Deeside Family Centre kindly gave us their centre for the evening and it became a hub of girly delights – we had a hand massage and nail painting table where our guests gave each other massages and painted one another’s nails, there was a fun photo booth with props where they took silly selfies on their phones. We also had a fab pick n mix stall and we paid for a professional massage therapist to come in and give the adults a 10 – 15 minute head shoulder and neck massage. I think it is fair to say though that the highlight of the evening was the make your own lip balm table – our very own Dawn helped small groups to make their own lip balm and every one of our guests took part and went home with at least one pot of home-made lip balm. I think Dawn felt like she’d been embalmed as she did not stop all night (thanks Dawn!) !! Hot chocolate with marshmallows and giant cookies were enjoyed and appreciated by everyone! Last, but definitely not least, we had a relationship tree where guests were given the opportunity to write on labels the things they appreciated about the person they had come along with us – for me, reading the lovely comments people wrote about one another was the best bit of a really fun night! 23 guests came along, including Torry Academy’s school nurse with her teenage daughter. It was a full on Choices family affair with the Relationship Revolution Team, Young Mums Worker, Youth Counsellors and Therapeutic Listening Manager all mucking in to provide our guests with a really lovely evening. We also are so grateful to the Bodyshop who provided us with fab goodie bags to give people as they left. This was our first Time for Two event and based on the wonderful feedback from everyone definitely won’t be the last. Time for Two was funded by the Fairer Scotland Fund. Thanks to all involved and all who came along to make it such a successful.
